Fundraising
for NetOp
When Gayle Taylor, an English
teacher at Clovis High School in California, first found
out about NetOp School
at a local tradeshow, she decided, right
then and there, that she needed this software for her
classroom. Unfortunately,
due to budget cuts, the Clovis Unified School
District wasn’t
able to supply her with the funds necessary
to purchase the software. However, Gayle was determined.
With the Fourth of July right around the
corner, Gayle saw the potential demand for
fireworks and organized a fireworks sale
at the front entrance of her local Wal-Mart.
For one week, Gayle and three other teachers
fought the intense summer heat standing outside
selling fireworks. “People would say, ‘I
can’t believe you’re standing
in this heat selling fireworks’”,
Gayle explained. “It was so hot I got
a bloody nose one day while working the booth.”
In the end though, the blood and sweat paid
off. All together, the four teachers raised
over $5,000.00. That gave them enough money
to stock two wireless laptop computer labs
with NetOp School and buy other supplies
for their classrooms as well. “It was
really worth working for”, Gayle explained. “NetOp
School has made our job so much easier. I
think anybody who has computers in their
classroom should have NetOp.”
When asked how NetOp made a difference with
her classes, Gayle had this to say, “Before,
I was constantly running from one computer
to the next like an internet policeman; making
students stay on task. With NetOp, I can
be a teacher and help them with their problems,
while at the same time monitor all their
screens.”
NetOp School proved to be so effective that
they’ve already begun planning this
year’s fireworks sale to raise money
for more NetOp School licenses.
