| NETOP REMOTE CONTROL CERTIFIED AS 508 COMPLIANT |
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. The Center for Information Technology Accommodation (CITA), in the U.S. General Services Administration's Office of Government wide Policy, has been charged with the task of building the infrastructure necessary to support Section 508 implementation. One of the challenges for remote control products has always been enabling visually impaired persons to access distant PCs. With NetOp’s remote audio capabilities, along with popular screen reader software, this is now possible. | TECH TIP: CARRY YOUR NETOP REMOTE CONTROL GUEST WHEREVER YOU GO |
One
of the most exciting new features in NetOp Remote Control v7.65 is the
ability to launch your Guest module from anywhere there's an Internet
connected PC. NetOp now enables users to run the NetOp Guest from a removable
media device such as a USB flash drive. With this feature, a fully configured
Guest Module can be copied to the USB drive. This is done by going to
the 7.65 Guest Tools, Copy Guest to Removable Drive. NetOp will copy
your current set up to the drive. The program uses about 11 MB plus you
will need room for connection files (phonebook and history), cache files,
and perhaps other files you may need for uploading to NetOp Hosts. Developers
suggest you use a 32MB Flash Drive or larger.
Once the Guest has been copied it can be inserted in just about any Windows PCs USB port and used as if it were installed on that machine, but does not require any installation, scripts, settings or files be placed onto the temporary Guest PC. Just like the a NetOp Guest running on your desktop, the USB Guest can securely take control of one or more NetOp Hosts running on any Windows platform, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X and more. The USB Guest also supports file transfers and inventory of the Hosts hardware and software. The USB Guest is ideal for Help Desk professionals and Network Administrators who are constantly on the move as well as mobile professionals who can use it to access their PCs or launch demos back at the home office.
